Aria 10S (Tower Mains)
Over 2 years of research and development has led to the creation of
the Aria 10S. Every aspect of this design has been taken into
consideration. Every logical crossover slope has been explored.
The result is a speaker that sounds so open and detailed it has us
wondering if anything can get any better. Some of the highlights of
this speaker include an elegant crossover that has no additional
shaping contour networks in the passband of each driver's frequency
response. Often a midrange will have a diffraction ripple around
800hz-1khz. The Aria 10s are perfectly flat in this critical area
without the need to notch any peaks. The Scan Speak 15W was
selected because its natural frequency response complements the
diffraction properties of the Aria10s' baffle shape, which produces a
perfect frequency response. Therefore, the power response is
perfectly level and the parts count is kept at a minimum, which
allows the use of high end crossover components.
We use Clarity Caps, Mills resistors, low DCR coils, and absolutely no
electrolytic components. Only the highest quality parts are utilized
to extract every once of detail from the signal.
The Air Circ tweeter is right at home in this speaker. The lack of
diffraction is almost too good to be true in its passband-- definitely
among the best we have ever measured.
The Seas L26ROY is outstanding in a sealed box. The sealed box is
utilized in this speaker for it's excellent transient response
characteristics, but if the user would like these ported for bass in the
low 20's, an optional modification can be made. The frequency
response of the Seas L26ROY is very linear for a subwoofer, which
allows us to use a crossover point that seamlessly integrates with the
dual Scan Speak midranges without causing stress on any of the
drivers. The woofer is mounted close to the floor so that the floor
bounce cancellations are mitigated and additional sensitivity is
gained.
Every design element came together for this speaker to bring the
listener closer to the music. The only compromise is that the speaker
needs a few feet to breathe because of the dipole midrange. The
best source equipment will bring these speakers to life.
