Dynamic 0.5 Kit (pair)
The Dynamic 0.5 kit is designed to match the rest of the Dynamic
Series when staying on a strict budget is a main factor. Several
of these speakers can make up the surrounds in a 5.1 or 7.1
system or work well on their own in a 2 channel setup. The
speaker works well near a wall, as long as the rear port has room
to breathe. A custom cabinet can also be built if you need a front
firing port.
Both drivers are from the Dayton Reference Series line, and in
our opinion, offer an excellent value in price to performance. The
mid/bass unit is the RS150-4, a 6” aluminum cone driver with
shorting rings in the magnet system. This provides a smooth
response and lower harmonic distortion. The tweeter is the new
RS28F, which is extremely popular in the DIY scene because of its
excellent performance and sweet sound. It also features an
advanced motor which allows it to play without strain at a
relatively low crossover point.
This kit is designed to work well in the finished Parts Express
.38ft3 cabinets with a rear port, although they can also be used in
a sealed enclosure with a higher F3 point. The cabinets come in a
cherry, maple, or black gloss finish. After the kit is purchased,
the cabinet plans are forwarded to the customer.
The Dynamic 0.5 crossovers come professionally assembled on a
circuit board. High quality parts are used throughout the
parallel circuits, including film capacitors and air core inductors.
The series tweeter circuit uses metal oxide resistors and Solen
capacitors, while the series woofer circuit uses a low DCR air-core
inductor. Many options are available for this kit, so be sure to
