M52CC Kit (center channel)
The M52CC kit is designed to match the rest of the M Series
when staying on a strict budget is a main factor, and if the
customer wants the smooth sound offered by the SB Acoustics
drivers and Scan Speak ring radiator tweeter. For a 5.1/7.1
system, the M5 will work well as matching surrounds and the
M52 as the mains to match the M52CC. This speaker works well
near a wall, as long as the rear port has room to breathe. A
custom cabinet can also be built if you need a front firing port.
Both drivers are of the very highest quality, and in our opinion,
offer an excellent value in price to performance. The mid/bass
unit is the SB Acoustics SB15NRXC30-8, a 5.5” paper cone driver
with a copper sleeve in the magnet system. This provides a
smooth response and lower harmonic distortion. The tweeter is
the silky smooth Scan Speak R2604/8330, which is extremely
popular in the DIY scene because of its excellent performance and
sweet sound. It also features an advanced motor which allows it
to play without strain at reasonable output levels.
This kit is designed to work well in the finished Parts Express
.75ft3 cabinet with a rear port, although it can also be used in a
sealed enclosure with a higher F3 point. The optional cabinet
comes in a cherry, maple, or black gloss finish. After the kit is
purchased, the cabinet plans are forwarded to the customer. The
M52CC crossover comes professionally assembled on a circuit
board. High quality parts are used throughout the parallel
circuits, including film capacitors and air core inductors. The
series tweeter circuit uses metal oxide resistors and Solen
capacitors, while the series woofer circuit uses a low DCR air-core
inductor. Many options are available for this kit, so be sure to
