The RBR kit is a ported or sealed design.  Feel free to port the speaker out the back if desired.  Place the 2" X9"L port opposite the current
position if that is desired.  Note: The tweeter offset is from the center and the pair are mirror imaged.
The RBR kit requires that you use foam on the side walls and 2.5-3" of sound dampening fill on the back wall.  Keep the fill at least 2" away from
the port opening.  Make sure you chamfer the front baffle opening (on the inside) for the woofer AT LEAST 1/2" so the driver can breathe
properly.  The front baffle is 1" thick.  I used a 5/8" chamfer, but a roundover on sides can also be used if you want to wrap the veneer around the
sides in one piece.
Frequency Response showing the crossover point
The crossover reverse polarity null is nice and deep around 1.5meter distance.  The design is
optimized for a typical listening distance of 3.5 meters, but the drivers will sum nicely at closer
listening distances.
Most amplifiers should have no problem with this 8ohm impedance.
The power response is flat.
(NOTE: Do not use the above crossover for any design other than the original
RBR!!!  It will not work for other drivers.)

The crossover uses minimum crossover components to do the job effectively.  Feel free to
experiment with the tweeter padding resistors to voice the speaker to your tastes.  Both
resistors must be changed as noted in the schematic.

Listening Impressions:

Overall, I am very pleased with the results.  The vocals are very liquid and detailed-- as they
should be coming from a combination utilizing high end drivers.  I feel the crossover does what
it should, it disappears and lets the system do its thing.  Therefore, I felt that these were very
transparent with a warmth to vocals that is not thick, just relaxed with detail.  This quality
makes you want to turn the volume way up to get more.  The low harmonic distortion of these
drivers also makes you think you can just go louder and louder, but remember there is only so
much a single 5.5" driver can do.  Still, this monitor is almost full range with bass extending well
into the 30s!  This is just remarkable for such a small driver.  My wife commented that they just
sound huge for their size, and I think she nailed it.  They outperform what they should be
allowed to do as a small monitor.  I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
